Vanessa Miller began her training career as a secondary school teacher in 1995, after graduating with a Bachelor of Education, with majors in Accounting/Business Management and Office Administration.

She worked in numerous Education Queensland schools before moving to the Catholic sector. Vanessa completed her Master of Education with majors in Accounting/Business Management and Leadership and Management in 1997. Vanessa taught a variety of subjects to students from Grade 8 to Grade 12. These subjects include: computer studies, business principles, religious education, senior Accounting, senior Computer Studies, Records Management, NOS modules, SAS Business Studies, Certificate II in Business, Certificate III in Business, Certificate III in Children's Services, Certificate II in Tourism, Study of Religion.

During 1998, Vanessa became Vocational Education Coordinator and was fundamental in the creation of the 'alternate pathways pilot program'. At-risk students were provided the opportunity to participate in a program that consisted of a variety of competency based courses and structured work placement to best enhance their options at the completion of Year 12. This program was a resounding success with all students gaining employment in their chosen pathways at the end of Year 12. These programs began to emerge in most secondary schools, with vocational studies now comprising a large proportion of study undertaken by senior students.

Vanessa is passionate about education and providing learning opportunities to a diverse range of learners. Throughout her teaching career, Vanessa has been blessed with assisting students from an array of developmental difficulties including students with Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, hearing impaired, social and emotional barriers, intellectual impairments, CAPD, ESL students and cerebal palsy.

Vanessa decided to further her studies in her other passion - Accounting - and successfully completed her Master of Business (Professional Accountancy) in 2009. It is based on these shared passions that Vanessa is excited to be able to participate in the training of courses from the Business Services training package and the Financial Services training package.

Vanessa established her own bookkeeping and administration company - At Ease Accounts Pty Ltd - in 2008 and continues to update her knowledge through regular professional development programs and work placements. Her previous work in the finance industry includes working as an Accountant at a local firm and as a taxation consultant for the tax season.

Vanessa is looking forward to working with other passionate people as they embark on their careers.
